New Recruits: D16’s Welcome Letter

Hey man,

First, welcome to the Guild! I think you will fit in well here. There are a few things I want to go over with you. First, let me explain this idea of Boss Strikes.

A boss strike icon will appear on the top left of your screen.

BS_Icon

There is a timer associated with this icon that indicates how much time is remaining in the event. Tapping on this icon will load the Boss Strike Event screen.

There will typically be five waves and some of them will have flying units (I will help u decide which units to bring to battle in a little bit). Each unit you kill gives you certain points (beating all 5 waves gives you around 5000 points). Those points are added into a pool that takes all the points from all guild members and adds them up. After so many points we will reach different levels known as tiers. Different tiers give different prizes. (Tier 3,7, and 10+ usually gives a unit that can only be obtained in the boss strike and tiers 5 and 9 give nanopods)

A boss strike happens once a month for 5 days (last one ended on Tuesday so we’ve got about a month to prepare you for the next). My job/goal is to help prepare you for the next boss strike. During your first strike, you will find it to be a bit frustrating: I warn you, your best units WILL die, your hospitals will be full and so will your repair bays, and your resources will run low….that is of course if you’re participating … but this is why I am here to help. After the first boss strike, you will develop an idea of what to do to do better. For example, my first boss strike with the guild I got 20000 and in the last one (my second one) I got 100000. Remember, boss strikes are the most important mission in the guild. Preparing for them will also help you level up and do better in the game as well! Failure to participate in the boss strikes may get you kicked out…but just do what you can, we all have jobs and lives, so just do what you can and no one will be mad.

So let’s get to how to best prep for them. Below I am going to list some boss strike concerns and how to beat them. I am also going to ask you a few questions regarding your current status in the game:

Boss strike issues

  1. Even the best units get killed. Its unavoidable.
  2. Resources will be used a ton. You have to repair the units that get killed a lot. I recommend saving your nanos.
  3. Units need to be tough. The best formation are units that are strong and high leveled.
  4. You need a good formation and a ton of those units.

How you can manage these issues

This is what everyone in the guild works hard to do:

  1. Upgrade your hospitals and repair bays first. Get them as high as you can afford with the amount of resources you can hold. The higher level they are, the faster and less expensive it is to repair them.
  2. Upgrade steel, iron, lumber, and concrete mills as high as you can. They produce more. You can also occupy others for resources, but I will get to those in a little bit
  3. Rank up units. Level 5 is best. Level 6 can be unattainable for some units, but level 5 is fine. When you select certain units (discussed below) you will want to rank them up. The stronger they are the more damage and health they have. Wimp farms can also be used (discussed below)
  4. We will need to set up a solid formation. You get 13 units for the 5 waves; 5 in front row, 5 in middle row, and 3 in back. I will help you with this next. After these units are decided, rank them and mass produce them.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO TRY AND DO THESE IN ORDER (training units can be done at all times)

So, what’s a good formation?

Ideally, strong units in the front to prevent enemies form penetrating your second & third row units. Your super tanks will come in handy for that.

Some good non-nano unit formations

(I say non-nano units because I won’t expect you to mass produce with nanos)

Front row:

  • Portable walls (don’t attack, but have a ton of hp)
  • Heavy tanks (good hp, decent damage often)

Middle row:

  • Allied cannoneers*
  • Agents
  • Boom-booms*
  • Hvy tanks
  • Tank killers

*indicates units that can kill flying units (heavy tanks can if you use the machine gun turret, idk how effective that will be though) You will always want to have at least 4 of these in each formation)

 Back row:

  • Allied cannoneers*
  • Rocket trucks (similar to hvy recon)
  • Tank Killers

You may use other units, but I recommend these ones as they have proven to be successful.

For nano units formations

Front row:

  • Super tanks –  front or middle row (I go front they have a lot of health)
  • Mega Tanks
  • Legendary Mammoths/Boars – middle or third row too

Second row:

  • Sandworms – preferably middle, but 1st can work
  • Samurais
  • Mech Troopers

Back row:

  • Hvy recon
  • Flying Units – Though they’re good in 1st row as well

If you have any questions on other units, let me know

Now let’s discuss occupations:

As you can tell from upgrading, to leveling up, to needing to buy a lot of units (our guild recommends you have about 10-20 of your most usefull units [10 hvy tanks, portable walls, rocket trucks, ect..may not be possible by your first strike so just follow the steps above as much as possible), to needing to repair/heal, you can tell you need a lot of resources cycling and building up at all times. An easy way to do this is by occupying a guild member’s buildings/resources.

First, let’s go over some simple rules so you can avoid mistakes and not get in trouble (like I did when I first started 🙂

A)     Never occupy mills or mines unless otherwise told to

B)     Don’t be a mooch. Remember others need to occupy places as well. I shoot to only have 1-2 occupations on someone’s land at once.

So what is okay to occupy?

A)     Willow trees- there are some on my land in the back. They provide me no benefit and are there for others to occupy. You can occupy an area big enough to cover nine trees at once. This gives you wood and may be occupied without permission. After you occupy it, in 4 hours, wood will appear over that spot for you to collect and once you collect it, it will start over and in 4 hours you can collect them again. After a day or so your occupation will leave . This goes fo all occupations, four hours for a few days

B)     Propane Tanks- also on my land next to the willows. They give you oil and can be occupied without permission.

C)     Coal bins- I don’t have any of them but, they give you coal and you don’t have to ask for permission.

D)    Vehicle factories- this is a big one. I have 3, but if I let someone occupy I usually put 2 in the back of my base. These give gears but DO require permission. Since these produce a benefit to the owner, you will need permission. This is one of the only ways to easily obtain gears needed for a lot of units.

E)     Spec ops Center- provides bars. Provides no benefit to the owner so does not need permission.

F)     Missile Silos- Provides steel and does not require permission

G)    Artificial ponds- provides lumber and does not need permission

Basically, the issues we’ve had in the past & by some new members, are people occupying vehicle factories and mills without asking. If you occupy them (such as steel mill or vehicle factory, etc.) it slows production down by 8-10x the amount to the owner during the time of occupation. If you are ever worried about someone getting mad, just ask them if you can occupy something first.

Here’s Guild Rule 7 that summarizes the above points:

7. Occupying with Permission. All guild members are required to ask a fellow guild mate, via PM or Guild Chat, for permission to occupy a specific building, and receive consent, before occupying. (Note! the following buildings are exempt by this rule: Missile Silos, Propane Tanks, Artificial Ponds, Willow Trees, Salvaged Ancient Tech, Tranquil Ponds, Coal Powerplants, Chemical Weapon labs/storage facilities, & SpecOps Center )

Wimp farms

Are used to help rank up units. Especially wimps!

Check out this video  to understand more about them. They are usually put on Officers’ lands and randomly thrown onto others lands as well.

If you score highly in the next Boss Strike, you may also be chosen for the Accelerated SP Program. If so, you’ll be assigned an Officer who’ll place daily wimp farms on your land. So score as high as you can in the next Boss Strike!

And finally, I want to ask you a few questions about your current status in the game. Please PM or email the person who recruited you with an answer to each question in the same order.

  1.  What units do you use often that cost nanopods? What rank are they and how many do you have?
  2. Do you typically purchase nanos? If not, how do you get your nanos?
  3. What level are your wimps?
  4. What is your max storage of resources? (check a storage facility on your land for this number)

Feel free to ask me any questions. Again, welcome to Los Zapatistas! 🙂
